Pilgrimage Blog

This article was an alternate for the Edu Passion 2019 report task because I didn't have the time to visit and interview the stand, and the university presentation due to my hectic tasks I have as the part of the committee of the event. I wrote this because I was so content to share my story about my trip, because not everyone really knew about the places that I went before. I was so grateful that I got the opportunity to have these valuable experiences from the trip. Alhamdulillah.

I went to Soekarno Hatta International Airport right after I finished the Bakti Desa program. I felt so exhausted, weary, and I just want to take a rest, BUT I CAN'T:') because I had to go to Jakarta by car for 2 hours on 6 January 2019. Soon after my parents and I arrived in Soetta Airport at night, we met our pilgrim companions from Bandung, and we went inside the airport to check in. We went to Changi Airport at Singapore by plane for about 2 hours. After we arrived, we gathered with our pilgrim companions in Changi Airport, and we waited for our departure schedule to Jeddah.

Terminal 3 Changi Airport had these Hogwarts photo booth!
The flight from Singapore to Jeddah spent about 12 hours. After we arrived in Jeddah, we went to Madinah by a bus. The trip spent about 5 hours. We arrived in Madinah at 4.30 am, and we finaly can have a rest in the hotel. Our hotel was very close to the Nabawi Mosque, so we could hear the prayer call (azan) clearly. When we heard the azan for Fajr, we immediately walked to the mosque; we didn't want to miss Fajr prayer congregationally, we will miss the opportunity to get lot of rewards from God (pahala). We spent the first day in Madinah by strolling around Nabawi mosque, and we visited the Quran Museum. We were guided by an Indonesian museum guide, and he will explain the history of Quran, and the things inside. There's the oldest quran, a quran made by a Pakistani woman from cotton; the verse was knitted into the cloth (and it spent about 50 years to make this quran), and many big video screen that I was so amazed with because it was really modern. After that, we spent the day by praying in the mosque, and we strolled around the streets to buy some foods.
Nabawi Mosque
Medina was Prophet Muhammad's destination after his Hijrah from Mecca, and became the capital of a rapidly increasing Muslim Empire, first under Muhammad's leadership, and then under the first four Rashidun caliphs Abu Bakr, Umar, Usman, and Ali. It served Madinah the power base of Islam in its first century where the early Muslim community developed. Medina is home to the three oldest mosques, namely the Quba Mosque, al-Masjid an-Nabawi, and Masjid al-Qiblatayn ("the mosque of the two qiblas"). Prophet Muhammad's tomb was in Nabawi Mosque, it was called Raudhoh. Rasul once said in the hadits that the person who prays in Raudhoh, his/her prayers will be granted Insya Allah.

Quba Mosque

In raudah, we were struggling to pray here because it was really crowded:')
We spent 3 days in Madinah. Then, we went to Mecca by a bus for about 5 hours. We need to implement our intention for pilgrimage later, so we said 'labbaikallahuma umratan', and we stopped by at the meeqath; which is Dhu'l Hulayfah (now it's called Bir Ali). After we arrived in Mecca, we continued our pilgrimage (umrah). First, we did Tawaf. We walked around the Holy Ka'ba for 7 times, and we had to pray and do dzikr along the way. After that, we went to the Safa and Marwah hill inside the Haram Mosque, and we did Sa'i. after we finished Sa'i, we did the last part of pilgrimage; tahalul.Tahalul was a part of pilgrimage to cut our hair.
the holy ka'ba

We spent our days in Mecca by strolling around the Haram area, and praying inside the Mosque. We didn't want to miss the chance. Anyway, we did a city tour in Mecca as well, but the most interesting part was; we got the chance to visit Ta'if city.

we went to Ta'if by a cable car

Taif was also called as the City of Roses, because the roses in Taif were so unique and only grew for about 4 months. No wonder when my tour guide told me that the roses in Taif were really great.

My Holiday

My holiday started on 18th December 2017 until 2nd January 2018. I spent my holiday in my house; and I was struggling to drove away the boredom I felt that time. So I guess, even though I have nothing to do on last year's holiday, I intended to keeping on being busy with doing some of my hobbies that time, and not procrastinate on holidays. But in the end, I kept procrastinating, and I didn't do anything productive on holidays. So what did actually I do on holidays? Well, that's a lot, actually, but I felt like the activities that I've done on holidays weren't productive. I was playing games, and buying go-food oftenly throughout the holidays. To be honest, I felt super-duper lonely at the early holiday because there's no one that time that could hangout with me. What else? Oh yeah, I didn't actually spent the holidays only at my house, I went to Jakarta for two days (I forgot when) to meet my grandparents. Me and my mom traveled from Cimahi to Jakarta wit...
